Gavin Hood said it was watching Gustavo Dudamel lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra during a show in L.A.'s Disney Hall that inspired him to have Ender conduct his team of pilots as if he were guiding them through a prestissimo symphony — front and center, orchestrating everyone's movements in harmony.
